Most people need to use a combination of protocols and most protocols need adapting to meet individual needs.
Caries protocol (Adults over twelve years of age at high risk of decay) Morning High fluoride toothpaste (Neutrafluor 5000)
Lunch High fluoride toothpaste if possible
Evening Regular toothpaste followed by ‘Tooth mousse’
Diet should contain as little sugar as possible. The frequency of sugar attacks should be as low as possible. Any sugar attack should be as short as possible (sucking on sticky sweets is as bad as it gets).
Erosion and sensitive teeth protocol Morning Immediately after eating use a sugar-free chewing gum for 5/10 minutes. Wait at least half an hour before cleaning teeth.
Lunch Immediately after eating use a sugar-free chewing gum for 5/10 minutes. Wait at least half an hour before cleaning teeth.
Evening Immediately after eating use a sugar-free chewing gum for 5/10 minutes. Wait at least half an hour before cleaning teeth.
Clean your teeth last thing at night and then apply some toothmousse to your teeth. This mousse should be on your teeth when you are asleep.
After drinking an acidic drink immediately rinse your mouth with water.
After regurgitating stomach acid immediately rinse your mouth with a bicarbonate mouthrinse.
Dry mouth protocol Morning Immediately after eating use a sugar-free chewing gum for 5/10 minutes.
Lunch Immediately after eating use a sugar-free chewing gum for 5/10 minutes.
Evening Immediately after eating use a sugar-free chewing gum for 5/10 minutes.

Drink lots of water during the day and keep a glass of water to sip on at night.
Use proprietary gels or solutions as required to keep your mouth moist.

If drinking non-fluoridated water then either Take daily fluoride tablets. Mix up some fluoridated water, place it in the fridge and drink it.

Bad Breath protocol Upon wakening clean the back of the tongue with a tongue scrapper. Then use a mouthwash such as ‘Closys11’ of ‘BDT’. Eat breakfast. It helps stimulate the flow of saliva. During the day prevent the mouth from drying by sipping water. At night keep a glass of water and sip on it if your mouth becomes dry.
Gum Disease Protocol Clean teeth religiously twice a day. This includes between the teeth using either floss or ‘piksters’.
Teeth need to be professionally cleaned as recommended. Either every three months, six months or once a year. |
