Diet

A diet that’s good for general health is good for teeth and gums.  But we can be a touch more specific.

Looking at diet from the point of view of your teeth two things matter:

Frequency and type of contact between sugar and your teeth. Increased frequency is bad for teeth.  The longer the contact the worse the effect. A lot of foods contain hidden sugars.  Foods that you would not suspect. You need to learn how to read the labels on the side of the food.

Frequency and type of acid attacks on your teeth.  Increased frequency is bad.  Liquid acids are worse. (soft drinks, sports drinks, wine, vinegar)

There are a multitude of websites that look at diet and nutrition from the point of view of general health.
